yes, thank you. I am scheduled to begin PT this week. Your technique has brought some relief while I await the appointment. Happy 4th of July!

It may be a good idea to get that checked out by a physical therapist especially if it has been there that long.

Hi, I irritated my SI joint for the first time in February 2011. After a couple months of PT, I felt almost back to normal. I began strengthening my ab muscles. About 9 hours ago, I bent the wrong way and reactivated the pain and tightness. I just tried your door stretching technique and while the pain is not completely gone, I am able to sit relatively pain free for the first time today. Thank you! Tomorrow I will return to my stretching routine and try the door stretch again. Next week, maybe I can return to strengthening.

Cold feet and/or numbness could indicate a vascular issue. Or they could be two separate problems.

If you're have peripheral symptoms into the feet it's possible that there may be an issue in the back or it could be somewhere else.

Have you had anyone assess your overall mobility and structure along with biomechanics? If not that may be a good idea because there are other places (namely muscles and such) that can impinge on nerves. Depending on where the issue may be it could be closer to the ankle or knee for your symptoms there rather than at the spinal level especially if it has yielded no results looking in that area.

Also, have you had anyone check out your SI joint? That may be an issue as well.

Steven.

I would really appreciate your advice on a problem I am having.

My feet are going numb during much of the day, it happens every morning when sitting on couch and when I get into the shower. Had MRI done, report didn't really show anything other than mild bulging disk and beginning arthritis. Chiro says he can understand my back pain but can't figure out numbness. My feet also get very cold sometimes, usually during sleep. I know this isn't really much information but any thoughts?

Having recently decided to take the plunge and study physiotherapy starting next autumn, my admiration for this website has redoubled. I look forward to reading all your articles again in this new light.

Thanks Steven, and Chris too, for providing all this quality information and insights on your site!

Cheers,
Kevin

P.S. I'm slightly envious of your domain :) Good choice, I like the keep-it-simple image it evokes.
